Awal is a biannual magazine founded in 1985 in Paris by Mouloud Mammeri, with the support of Pierre Bourdieu. Mouloud Mammeri was its publishing director, Tassadit Yacine, editor-in-chief until 1989 (date of Mouloud Mammeri’s death), when she became publishing director.
It was published, initially with the help of the National Book Center and the Social Action Fund, then for more than ten years it has lived in total autonomy thanks to volunteering and the support of readers, an audience more numerous than social scientists. on sale in Algeria, in specialized bookstores in France, on FNAC and on Amazon.
